On August 31, 2013, Sonia Jackson Myles, founder of The Sister Accord, launched her Leadership Enrichment Tea Party Tour in Cincinnati, OH, on a mission to inspire 50 teenaged girls to understand the importance of Sisterhood and its role in Leadership. At that event, two important things occurred: she received a proclamation from the Senate of the General Assembly of Ohio. State Senator Eric H. Kearney presented this prestigious award during The Sister Accord Tea Party. Senator Kearney stated “This is the highest honor the Senate of the General Assembly of Ohio gives with the exception of honors given to military persons who have passed away,”

The Inaugural Tea Party was hosted and sponsored by Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza Hotel in an effort to support positive community engagement. Cincinnati Councilmember Yvette Simpson marked the occasion by declaring Sister Accord Day in the city.

“Sonia has been a tireless advocate for women’s rights with a special focus on building confidence and communication skills in young women,” said Michel A. Sheer, CHA, Managing Director, Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza. “We, at the hotel, are pleased to support Sonia in her work, and believe that this work can help lead to a better future for us all.”
